| Gervais property owner gets one-year sentence
A Gervais man on whose property were found thousands of stolen items was sentenced Monday to a year in prison on federal charges. Ivan Cam, 42, will serve a year in prison after he pleaded guilty Aug. 16 to violating the Clean Water Act, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Kerin, who prosecuted the case. Cam appeared in federal court in Portland and was sentenced to a year in prison and one year of supervised release by U.S. District Court Judge Garr M. King, Kerin said. He also was fined nearly $40,000. Cam was convicted of illegally excavating in the wetlands near his home on Mount Angel-Gervais Road. Cam was the first to be prosecuted for a wetlands violation case in Oregon, Kerin said. In the federal case, Cam repeatedly violated the Clean Water Act by digging ditches, trenches and drains in the land around his 10-acre property, federal court records showed.

We have thousands of English People migrating to Scotland on a monthly basis. They love it up here and to me if they truly feel that then they are most welcome. I do not seperate that opinion from English People if they happen to be Muslims. Welcome to Scotland. All I ask is that you love Scotland as much as I do, and besides your love of your new country, I dont give a rats about your religion providing you accept religion as a peacefull persuit that you keep as a personal thing to you. Honour killings and forced Marriages are not part of our culture. Equality for women is not negotable, it is a must. Scottish Law must be accepted as the way that an individuals guilt or innocence is determined.
Coyote sightings skyrocket, but no need to worry
Coyote sightings have become commonplace on Cape Ann and around the rest of northeast Massachusetts in recent years. An Essex resident reported to police last month that a coyote, which had been spotted several times, had made a den in a neighbor's yard. Rockport's animal control officer, Mindy Trafton, said coyotes have become accustomed to living in residential areas. "I had one trot right up to my porch from a dirt road coming from town," Trafton said . Newburyport's animal control officer, Rebecca Taylor, attributes the recent increase in sightings to the fact that it is mating season for coyotes and they travel on average two to three miles a day. "Because it's mating season, they are traveling a wider span than normally," Taylor said. "If they are moving into your yard, I'd be interested, but they really don't want anything to do with us." Taylor said she has received a huge volume of calls from residents who have spotted coyotes.
