You won't see many off-the-shelf costumes here. You'll spy your share of drag queens and naked men wrapped in Saran Wrap, but you might also see nine Brady Brunch look-alikes, their heads propped in faux television sets, a herd of cows or the Pope. One alumna fondly recalled a partygoer, wearing soft foam airbrushed to look like a slice of bread, who belly-flopped from a staircase and was promptly followed by his friends dressed as lettuce, tomato and a slice of ham.

Ways to wean travellers off the water bottle

High on the slopes of India's Kangra Valley, Dharamsala is a spiritual, new-agey kind of place that attracts tourists as much for its mountain scenery as its laid-back Tibetan vibe. So when I crested a hill just outside of town nine years ago, what I found shocked me out of my meditative state and seared itself into my conscience. Thousands upon thousands of empty plastic water bottles spilled down the slope. This was the town's solution to a largely tourism-generated problem.

Don't drink the water—it's a mantra we live by when visiting regions with unsafe water systems. But drinking bottled water instead isn't a perfect solution. Recycling doesn't exist in many of these countries, and those empties are a mark you leave on the local environment.

Of course, everyone wants to avoid water-borne illnesses, which range from diarrhea to hepatitis A to typhoid fever.

Coeur d'Alene Soldier Buried at Arlington National Cemetery

Nearby, work crews were filling in what used to be the crawl spaces of two scraped homes for the future site of the Syringa Center. I wondered how much longer Branden's memorial would last. On Thursday evening, I had my answer. It was gone. The Syringa Center site was almost ready for construction. I'm sure it'll be a nice building. However, I'm glad bulldozers can't scrape away the memory of a young man who was the focus of so much love.

Improved Technology to Achieve Hydrogen Fuel by Mimicking ...

This is exactly what plants do during the photosynthesis: stealing the hydrogen of the water using light. Hydrogen would be a very clean fuel, and a recent Penn State research has made a step further towards this direction. "This is a proof-of-concept system that is very inefficient. But .

After leap breaks body, a miracle renews spirit

On the evening of Sept. 28, at an apartment complex in King of Prussia, a tragedy and a miracle occurred 2.5 seconds apart.

The tragedy took place when Jordan Burnham, 18, a senior just nominated to the homecoming court at Upper Merion High School, jumped out his ninth-floor window.

The miracle happened 90 feet below, when he hit the ground at 50 m.p.h. - and survived.

Jordan has no recollection of going out the window. Even though he was suffering from depression, neither he nor anyone close to him ever expected him to do something so impulsive, so lethal.

"I had everything to live for," he says now.

Today, 114 days later, Jordan's body remains badly broken. With the help of three therapists, he stood on his right leg last week for 60 seconds.
