| Beijing's Water Cube welcomes first head of state visitor
BEIJING, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua toured China's National Aquatic Center, also known as the Water Cube, on Friday, becoming the first head of state to visit the flagship Olympic venue for water events. "I'm impressed by the engineering achievements that the Water Cube has made," said Yar'Adua after his visit. "I think all the athletes participating in the Beijing Olympic Games will have the same feeling." Four and a half years in construction, the Water Cube with bubble-like exterior was completed on Jan. 28. Previously a chemistry teacher, Yar'Adua was interested in the filtration methods and was told it uses active carbon to filter the water instead of chemicals. Later Yar'Adua was given an introduction to the National Stadium, or the Bird's Net.

Saints stars go out on loan
SAINTS' financial problems came back to haunt them yesterday as they off-loaded star striker Grzegorz Rasiak and midfielder Rudi Skacel. Czech Skacel has gone to Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent move. Prolific Polish hitman Rasiak has joined Bolton on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move. Rasiak and Skacel were two of the club's top earners. Raziak was believed to be on around £12,000 a week and Skacel is also on top wages. That saving in wages, combined with the potential fees for the two most expensive purchases in the Saints squad, proved too much for the cash-strapped club to turn down. Saints tried to put a brave face on the deal by saying it was also a way of easing the log-jam of strikers' but in reality it was another massive dent to their promotion hopes.

From Trash to Treasure
My dirt driveway constantly develops potholes. On the other hand, so does any unpaved driveway or road. The homeowner has several alternatives, and only one of them is truly practical. We can wait for the potholes to get past the point of no return, and call in the gravel truck and dozer. This costs money, often lots of money. The second choice is to do nothing. But this means a top speed of about one mile per hour on the driveway. Doing nothing isn't really an option. The third choice is to make a drag, and pull it up and down the driveway on a regular basis. This cuts out the potholes and keeps the driveway smooth.A driveway drag can be square or slightly rectangular. The main point, though, is to make the four sides from old bed rails. The front, or leading rail (the one facing the vehicle that you use to pull the drag) must be set with the sharp side down.
